    Had a phone call from a customer who wanted to praise the Council Workers who have been maintaining the Banksia bush outside her home in Blair Street, Portland she asked that her thanks and appreciation be passed on.

    A customer (Susan Hogan) came into the Casterton Office to personally thank the Casterton Depot workers who came to her house and lifted a tree off her fence for her. She said they went above and beyond and she was very grateful.

    A big thank you to GSC and particulary our outdoor maintenance and parks and gardens staff.


    Our foreshore looks amazing with a great space for our community of all ages to enjoy our outdoors. All abilities playground, skate park, pump track, BBQ's, tables and chairs are all well utilised.

    Our Botanic Gardens are well maintained and always a delight to visit.

    hi ALL,

    Recently I submitted a service request about the removal of some dead trees. This was attended today and was a great outcome. The trees were identified and cut down and the stumps were munched. I have had a few service requests in the last few months and they have all been completed in a timely manner.

    I would like to thank all the team in the garden area in their way they have been keeping the garden environs in a great state.

    Thanks to "Ranger Sharon" and her sidekick.

    Sharon and partner helped to ensure the safety of a seal that had made it to the edge of the road on Dutton Way on Sunday 16th June 2024.

    Despite not being paid to help marine life, Sharon was very professional and friendly while dealing with both the animal and concerned people.

    One of the things I appreciate about Portland is the number of public facilities (seats, tables, free BBQ, hot showers, toilets, lovely gardens, paths) and how well maintained they are. All our visitors comment of the gardens beds everywhere and the facilities available, compared to their local Shires. Thanks Glenelg Shire staff.

    I love having a pathway that goes all the way from north Portland into town, so much easier for pedestrians (in all seasons) and great for the kids on their bikes and scooters.
