Exciting progress for the Portland Community Infrastructure Refurbishment project.
This project will refurbish the Portland Angling Club and Portland Yacht Club, helping to improve these valued community facilities for local clubs, members and the wider Portland community.
Council has worked closely with the Victorian Government to secure funding and the necessary approvals for the project. With tenders for the works now awarded, the community can expect to start seeing activity on site in late 2026, with the project scheduled for completion in 2027.

BACKGROUND
Council received funding from the State Government's Regional Infrastructure Fund towards the provision of a Multipurpose Community Facility as part of the revitalisation of Portland's foreshore. The scope of the Portland Foreshore Multipurpose Community Facility project was to deliver a new building as a multipurpose community and club facility on the Portland foreshore with space for events and functions, hospitality and retail facilities. The works were to include the replacement of two (2) existing facilities being the Angling Club and Yacht Club buildings.
Following discussions with the funding body and the landowner, Council resolved at the 17 December 2024 Council meeting to proceed with the building refurbishment of the buildings currently in use by the Portland Yacht Club (Yacht Club building) and Sport and Game Fishing Club (Angling Club building) as part of the Portland Foreshore Multipurpose Facility.
