Are you part of ‘our Portland CBD traffic’ including vehicles, wheelchairs, pedestrians, cyclists, e-mobility, e-bikes and or e-scooters?
Council initially sought your input on traffic concerns in August 2024, we now present the draft outcomes of that consultation in the DRAFT Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) plan for your further input.
This is your opportunity to help make our traffic network safer by commenting on the DRAFT Local Area Traffic Management plan for Portland CBD/ Medical precinct.
TAC provided Glenelg Shire Council with a grant to:
Review all types of traffic in the Portland CBD / Medical Precinct
To do a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) plan with key design improvements that includes consideration to safer speed zones/ roads/ paths/ linkages and intersections.
Council will use this further input to finalise the reports LATM plan outcomes and provide a prioritised framework that can inform and support future grant applications and or works.

We thank the community for their input on the draft report presented earlier in 2025, the final draft has been developed incorporating the community input to date and can be viewed via the documents tab on this page.
This final draft report will be presented to Council for consideration, and it is intended to utilise the reports recommendations to seek further funding opportunities.

Thanks to everyone in our community for taking part in the Pedestrian and Cyclist Safety study.

Council will use your feedback on the draft to finalise the report and create a prioritised framework to support future grant applications and or works.
Have Your Say by reviewing the draft report and providing feedback. Comments will be received until midnight 31 January 2025.
Hard copy reports will not be provided due to the size of the document.

Thank you to those who attended the first round of face to face consultation sessions on 5 and 6 of September 2024.
If you were unable to attend, it's not too late to Have Your Say. The online survey is still open until Monday 16 September. Following the conclusion of the consultation period, we will collate all of your submissions and develop a draft report of the proposed improvements.
There will be further opportunities to review the survey outcomes and draft report following Councillor Election period.
Public consultation sessions for the Portland CBD/Medical Precinct Traffic Safety project will take place in the Portland Library later this week. The sessions with consultants and Council's Chief Design Engineer will be held in the large meeting room from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Thursday and 8am to 10:30am on Friday.
If you can't make it to one of these sessions there will be more sessions held later there is no need to make an appointment just drop in anytime between the times above.
