Consultation has now concluded. This project has been completed.
The North Portland Path link will provide pedestrian pathway from the Cavendish Street side of the Portland North Cemetery through to the Hanlon Parade/Learmonth Street roundabout and provide crucial access for residents from Maretimo, Seaview Estate and Blue Water Estate.
Highlighted in the Glenelg Shire Council Tracks and Trails Strategy, the pathway link will be constructed on the western side of Hanlon Parade to ensure protection of the clifftop environment.
Walkers will be able to choose to walk along the existing GSWW path along the clifftop or use the new, sealed 2.5-meter-wide path which will connect to a concrete footpath near the Hanlon Parade intersection.
Contractor GR Carr have been appointed and works commencing with construction due to be completed by the middle of the year.
This pathway link is in response to feedback received through development of the Tracks and Trails Strategy and Glenelg 2040 community engagement sessions.
