We want to ensure you have well balanced lifestyle opportunities, a quality range of services, education and employment opportunities. We’re creating a long term Community Plan that will inform how we invest in community assets, plan future programs, and make our shire an enjoyable place to live, work and play.

About Dartmoor
Dartmoor is a small rural township nestled in the southwest corner of Victoria, bounded by the Glenelg River and the Lower Glenelg National Park. According to the 2016 Census, Dartmoor had a population of 322. The township was settled by Europeans in the late 1850s after thousands of years with the Gunditjmara People as traditional custodians of the land. The main industries in the area are agriculture and the processing of timber from the extensive pine plantations

Emerging trends for rural Glenelg Shire:

  • Fewer families and young people are living in the area
  • The population is stable, it has not increased nor decreased significantly in recent years
  • There is a recent increase in the number of residents over the age of 65.
  • Approx. 32% of households consist of a couple with no children living at home.
  • Approx. 34% of the employed population work in agriculture, forestry or fishing

Community Reference Group: Join one of three Community Reference Groups located around the Shire to shape the process and help to develop the Glenelg Shire 2040 Community Plan. Each group will meet five times and will consist of 25 residents per group. Click here to find out more and register your interest.

Pop up Events: Come along to a series of events and pop up activities that will be hosted across the whole of Glenelg Shire between December to March 2020.
