The multi-million transformation of one of the Glenelg Shire’s most loved tourist attractions has taken shape. Stage 1 and 2 are now complete with the final stage about to commence that will see a refurbishment of the existing amenities building. Have your say on the refurbishment of the Cape Bridgewater Amenities refurbishment.

The Cape Bridgewater Infrastructure Masterplan was developed in 2014, following extensive community consultation and has been funded as part of the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI). A recent review of the LRCI project delivery program was undertaken with funding and scope changes proposed to the Cape Bridgewater Amenities Upgrade. At the February 2025 Council Meeting, Council Endorsed a project funding and scope variation of the Cape Bridgewater Amenities Upgrade to provide for a facility refurbishment.

Council is seeking input from community to understand what you want prioritised as part of the refurbishment of the existing building.

The scope of works may include:

  • Shower cubicles
  • Hot water
  • Painting
  • New fixtures and fittings
  • Changing cubicles
  • Replacement of temporary retaining fence
  • Relocation of outdoor shower

Before proceeding with the procurement and delivery of these works Council will finalise a building condition inspection and works scope.

Have Your Say via the survey form below. Survey closes at 5pm Sunday 27 April 2025.

Upgrade to the Cape Bridgewater Public Amenities is underway!

This marks Phase 3 of the Bridgewater Masterplan Works and will deliver a range of upgrades designed to make the amenities more functional, fresh and convenient for the community.

    Works will include:

    • Installation of shower cubicles
    • Installation of a hot water system servicing all internal showers
    • External and internal painting
    • New fixtures and fittings
    • Replacement of the temporary retaining fence

    What’s next?

Works will begin externally, keeping the amenities building open to the public. Once external works are complete, the amenities building will be temporarily closed to allow internal upgrades to proceed. During this period, temporary toilets will be provided near the amenities for community use.

We anticipate completion of works by November 2025, weather permitting.

Council appreciates your patience as we undertake these important works and improve public infrastructure.
