Cape Bridgewater Amenities project
Consultation has concluded
The multi-million transformation of one of the Glenelg Shire’s most loved tourist attractions has taken shape. Stage 1 and 2 are now complete with the final stage about to commence that will see a refurbishment of the existing amenities building. Have your say on the refurbishment of the Cape Bridgewater Amenities refurbishment.
The Cape Bridgewater Infrastructure Masterplan was developed in 2014, following extensive community consultation and has been funded as part of the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI). A recent review of the LRCI project delivery program was undertaken with funding and scope changes proposed to the Cape Bridgewater Amenities Upgrade. At the February 2025 Council Meeting, Council Endorsed a project funding and scope variation of the Cape Bridgewater Amenities Upgrade to provide for a facility refurbishment.
Council undertook consultation the community in early 2025 to understand what areas to prioritise as part of the refurbishment of the existing building.
Including some of the following areas:
- Shower cubicles
- Hot water
- Painting
- New fixtures and fittings
- Changing cubicles
- Replacement of temporary retaining fence
- Relocation of outdoor shower

We are pleased to announce that the Bridgewater Amenities Refurbishment Works are now complete, and the upgraded facility is open for public use.
The refurbishment works included:
- External and internal painting
- New fascia and cladding to extend the life of the facility. Colours chosen to reflect the natural environment and existing infrastructure.
- Replacement of the temporary retaining fence in front of the facility
- New shower cubicles
- Warm water supply to all internal showers
- Installation of new fittings and fixtures.
This project is part of Council’s ongoing commitment to improving public infrastructure and delivering facilities that support the needs of our community.
Council sincerely appreciates the support and cooperation shown by residents and visitors while these important works were undertaken.

We are pleased to share that works at Bridgewater Amenities is progressing well.
Works completed to date:
- External and internal painting
- New fascia and cladding
- Replacement of the temporary retaining fence
Upcoming works:
- Installation of shower cubicles
- Installation of a hot water system servicing all internal showers
- New fixtures and fittings
To facilitate the works, the amenities building is temporarily closed. Temporary toilets have been provided for community use.
We anticipate completion of works by November 2025, weather permitting.
