Nominations are now open for the 2026 Glenelg Shire Community Awards.

This is your chance to help Council recognise and award our local heroes and community groups for their commitment to making our Shire a great place to live.

Categories for this years awards are:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Citizen of the Year
  • Youth Citizen of the Year
  • Community Group of the Year
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Diversity and Inclusion Award
  • Arts and Culture Award
  • Outstanding Achievement Award

Contribution can be in any field including education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, sport, arts, environment, or any other area that contributes to the advancement and well-being of a community. Full eligibility criteria is available in the survey. 

Hard copy nomination forms are available on request from Council Customer Service Locations, Portland Library and Nelson Visitor Information Centre, 9 Leake Street, Nelson.

Nominations close 5pm Sunday 19 April 2026. All nominations must be received by the close date.
