The Glenelg Shire Council, in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1989 (the Act), has proposed to declare a Special Charge for the purpose of defraying the expenses associated with the Strathdownie Drainage Area.
Council hereby gives notice of its intention to consider the following motion at the Council Meeting to be held on Tuesday 24 June 2025:
That a special charge be declared for the properties located in the constituted Strathdownie Drainage Area for the 2025/26 financial year.
That the special charge be declared for defraying any expenses incurred in relation to the operation, maintenance, improvement, and administration of the Strathdownie Drainage Area which Council considers is of special benefit to those persons required to pay the Special Charge.
That the total estimated revenue in 2025/26 from the Special Charge be $16,000.00.
That the Special Charge be due and payable by the 30 September 2025.
In accordance with Council’s Community Engagement Policy the Strathdownie Drainage Area proposed special charge will be available for community feedback from Thursday 1 May to Thursday 29 May 2025.
Any person who wishes to make a submission regarding the proposed motion may do so under Section 223 of the Act. Any person making a written submission may request in the submission to be heard in support of their submission or be represented by a person specified in the submission, before Council, at date and time to be determined by the Chief Executive Officer.
Any person proposing to make a submission must do so before 5.00 pm on Thursday 29 May 2025. Submission can be made using the submission form on this page. Written submissions can be forwarded to enquiry@glenelg.vic.gov.au or hand delivered to any of our Customer Service Locations.
All submissions will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Act. Following consideration of submissions, Council may resolve to adopt the proposed motion with or without modification.
Any person making a submission under Section 223 of the Actis advised that details of submissions, excluding private information, may be included within the official Council Agendas and Minutes which are public documents and are made available on Council’s website.
