Want to have Your Say on Glenelg Shire Council’s annual budget? February is your chance.

Council listened to community and is now seeking feedback in the development stages of the Annual Budget.

Council want to understand what services and programs are valued most by our community, and hear your ideas about how you’d like funds allocated across the Shire. We also want to hear about specific projects you’d like considered as part of the budget setting process.

Drop in sessions are being held across the Shire between 6 and 21 February 2024, where the community can discuss 2024-2025 Annual Budget with Council staff.

At each session a presentation will be made to community, followed by the opportunity to complete a submission.

Cant attend a session? You can Have Your Say via the online submission form at the bottom of this page and view the presentation via the documents tab on this page.

A summary of the current 2023-2024 services and programs are contained within the adopted Council Budget (section 2.1 to 2.7) provided on this page.

Council also wants to know about specific projects you would like considered as part of the budget setting process. In order to have your say please share your priorities in the short survey below.

There are of course other factors to also take into consideration as the expenses incurred by Council in the delivery of services pose some significant financial challenges and the current financial climate may see a limited amount of money allocated to new budget submissions.

The Current Budget

Council provides more than 120 services to people of all ages and stages of life around the Shire, as well as maintaining our community’s infrastructure, including buildings, roads and recreational parks and spaces.

The expenses incurred by Council in the delivery of services pose some significant financial challenges. Council is committed to regularly reviewing its operations and services to identify potential cost reduction opportunities.

The current financial climate may see a restricted amount of money allocated to new budget submissions. All survey submissions will be reviewed against the Council’s strategic priorities and budget. Those ideas which align will be shortlisted for Council decision. Council will then consider that shortlist for funding in the 2024-25 budget.

It’s important to keep in mind that Council must fund certain services to some degree, but you can help us understand which you believe should be of greater priority.
