Construction of Bentinck Street and Fern Street Roundabout and Associated Works is progressing well.

What’s happening now

  • Roundabout construction is progressing, with excavation and foundation works continuing.
  • Drainage upgrades are now complete.
  • Kerbs and footpath works on Fern Street end of the intersection are now complete.
  • Kerb and footpath works are underway on Bentinck Street.
  • Tree removal required for visibility and safety has been completed.
  • Traffic management remains in place, including temporary signals to manage single‑lane alternating flow.
  • Parking restrictions around the intersection continue to allow safe access for machinery and construction crews.

What to expect over the coming weeks

  • Construction of the central roundabout island.
  • Installation of raised pedestrian crossings.
  • Signage and pavement upgrades.
  • Line‑marking and final surfacing works as the project moves toward completion.
  • Temporary changes to pedestrian access and short‑term parking impacts as works progress.

Access and safety

  • Emergency vehicle access is maintained at all times.
  • Detours remain in place for Fern Street, with access via Percy Street and Milbanke Street.
  • Road users are asked to follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers.
  • Variable Message Boards (VMS) are in place to notify drivers of changed conditions.
