Works Update

Construction of Bentinck Street and Fern Street Roundabout and Associated Works is progressing well.
What’s happening now
- Roundabout construction is progressing, with excavation and foundation works continuing.
- Drainage upgrades are now complete.
- Kerbs and footpath works on Fern Street end of the intersection are now complete.
- Kerb and footpath works are underway on Bentinck Street.
- Tree removal required for visibility and safety has been completed.
- Traffic management remains in place, including temporary signals to manage single‑lane alternating flow.
- Parking restrictions around the intersection continue to allow safe access for machinery and construction crews.
What to expect over the coming weeks
- Construction of the central roundabout island.
- Installation of raised pedestrian crossings.
- Signage and pavement upgrades.
- Line‑marking and final surfacing works as the project moves toward completion.
- Temporary changes to pedestrian access and short‑term parking impacts as works progress.
Access and safety
- Emergency vehicle access is maintained at all times.
- Detours remain in place for Fern Street, with access via Percy Street and Milbanke Street.
- Road users are asked to follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers.
- Variable Message Boards (VMS) are in place to notify drivers of changed conditions.
