Construction has now commenced

Construction has now commenced on the Bentinck Street and Fern Street Roundabout and Associated Works. The works are being delivered by G.R. Carr Pty Ltd on behalf of Glenelg Shire Council.


What’s happening now

  • Construction works have begun on site, including initial excavation and traffic management setup.
  • GR Carr has established the work zone around the intersection.
  • A few car parks around the intersection are temporarily unavailable to allow safe access for machinery and construction crews.
  • Traffic signals are in place to manage single‑lane alternating flow on Bentinck Street.

What to expect over the coming weeks

  • Continued excavation and preparation for the new roundabout.
  • Installation of new drainage, kerb works, and pavement upgrades.
  • Temporary changes to pedestrian access and parking near the intersection.
  • Ongoing traffic management to ensure the safety of workers and road users.

Access and safety

  • Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.
  • Detours remain in place for Fern Street, with access via Percy Street and Milbanke Street.
  • Please follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers.
