Domestic Animal management Plan Adopted

Thank to the community who joined the conversation and provided feedback on the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan. The Plan was adopted unanimously by Councillors at the December Council Meeting and balances community safety, animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

The Plan was developed with strong input from local residents, and reflects the priorities voiced by the community, including:

  • Stronger enforcement for roaming animals and off-lead dogs;
  • Stricter requirements for cat containment, desexing, and microchipping;
  • Clearer education and communication about rules and responsibilities;
  • Support for responsible owners, including concessions and low-cost services;
  • Improved dog-friendly infrastructure, such as more parks and better facilities.
