Community consultation for Proposed Safety Initiatives for Percy St Portland Between Tyers street and Wade Street has now concluded.  Updates to follow.

Council has been working diligently to deliver an unprecedented number of community infrastructure projects across the shire.

Project Funding

A number of these projects have been assisted through Federal and State Government funding including the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications under the Local Roads & Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI), State Government’s Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning; Department of Transport; Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (Economic Stimulus package). Funding is aimed to drive the regions recovery by supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Council will deliver additional projects across the shire. Grant funding has been received as part of Phase 2 of LRCI Program. The Phase 2 extension is a temporary, targeted stimulus measure responding to the serious, ongoing economic impacts of COVID-19. The LRCI Program assists a community-led recovery from COVID-19 by supporting local jobs, firms, and procurement.

Project Selection

Projects have been selected based on the outcomes of key strategies undertaken over the past few years including the Open Space Strategy, Tracks and Trails Strategy, Recreation Plan and various master plans. Other significant factors include; meeting funding requirements and completion of projects within given timeframes.
