Will council be providing a parents room?
Due to the standards and guidelines that a dedicated parents room is required to meet, we are unable incorporate one into this facility. However, a baby change facilities will be included.
The details of breastfeeding friendly locations in Portland will be provided at the amenities.
Glenelg Shire welcomes parents and caregivers at the Portland Library to visit, relax, feed and change their children. The Portland Library is a welcoming Breastfeeding friendly space, with a dedicated children’s area, change facilities available, tea/coffee facilities and microwave for use.
Will there still be showers located at this site?
Yes, there will be showers in two of the accessible cubicles.
Can council provide a children’s size toilet?
A children’s toilet will be included in one of the accessible cubicles.
Will there be gender specific cubicles?
All of the toilets are standard design which allows for use by all users. In response to requests for gender specific cubicles, there will be one designated female toilet and one designated male toilet.
Can you provide hooks on the doors for our bags?
Yes, there will be a hook on each cubicle door/ wall.
Are the toilets accessible?
Yes, the building will meet all requirements for accessibility and inclusion. There will also be a designated disabled car park space at the rear of the facility.
Will there be a Changing Places Cubicle
Space has been allocated for a changing spaces cubicle. Fit out of this space will be subject to the availability of future funding.

Other items raised
There were questions and comments raised about artwork outcomes, exterior seating and shelter and a charging station.
The current focus is on the construction of the amenities to minimise the impact on the community. Options for artwork, exterior seating and shelter and charging stations will be explored at the completion of the construction period.
