Council regularly reviews its policies to ensure they remain clear, fair and responsive to community needs. Following feedback received during the recent Community Grants program Council has identified opportunities to:

  • Reduce confusion around eligibility
  • Improve transparency and consistency
  • Strengthen equity, diversity, accessibility and inclusion
  • Better recognise the needs of older residents in our community

Council recognises the important role community groups play in supporting social connection, wellbeing, and local life across the Shire. Funding community, cultural and recreational activities, events and services enables individuals and groups to work in partnership with Council in meeting community needs.

Council is seeking your feedback on the updated policy to ensure that it reflects community needs and priorities. These updates aim to improve clarity, strengthen inclusion and diversity, and better support local community outcomes.

How to get involved

Hard copy surveys are available from Customer Service locations around the shire and the Nelson Visitor Centre. All submissions must be received by 5pm Thursday 26 March 2026.
